Norfolk Island Pine (Araucaria heterophylla)
An evergreen conifer with graceful form. In the wild it can reach 200
feet, grown indoors as a container plant it is kept to 6-7 feet tall.
Needs a cool location, about 65F in summer, 41-50F in the winter. Likes
rhododendron food. Can be maintained as a house plant anywhere. Grows
superbly in containers. If placed in a corner, it will grow crookedly.
In summer it is best placed outdoors. Makes a wonderful lawn or park
tree. Leaves are green and up to 1/2 inches long. Female cones are about
4 inches long, male cones are 1 1/2 to 3 inches and cylindrical.
